One of the great freedoms of boating is that anchoring is a part of navigation. In Canada, recreational boats can generally anchor temporarily in any suitable navigable waters where it is safe and permitted.
Unlike travelling on land, you are generally not restricted by ownership of the waterfront property you are close to.

In Ontario, VIGO’s permanent onboard living facilities provide an important advantage.
VIGO is equipped with permanent sleeping accommodations, permanent cooking facilities and permanent sanitary facilities — facilities relevant to Ontario’s rules concerning alcohol aboard recreational vessels.
Alcohol consumption is subject to applicable requirements, including where and how the vessel is secured and used. The operator must always remain legally fit to operate the vessel.
